SENTINEL 865 source projector code TEN865
The SENTINEL 865 source projector is a certified Type B(U)
package and consists of a stainless steel housing sealed
against tampering or the entrance of dirt or water. The
SENTINEL 865 is ideal for underwater radiography. The
projector has been proven in sea water at depths up to 609m
(2000ft).
The source is moved from the stored (shielded) position to
the exposed position to the exposed position by a pneumatic
actuator. The actuator automatically returns the source to the
stored position in the event of an airline failure. The source
projector incorporates a visual indication of source position
on the actuating cylinder.
This projector is ideal for the radiography of steel from
13 to 64mm (1/2 to 2 1/2in) as well as light alloys over
64mm(2 1/2in) thick. Because of its lightweight design and
high iridium-192 capacity, the SENTINEL 865 is particularly
suited to the radiography of pipelines and heavy wall
cylindrical vessels such as storage tanks, and power station
component.
Features
High capacity
The use of a 8.88 TBq (240Ci) iridium-192 projector can
speed up radiography operations.
Tested for underwater use
Lightweight
Only 26.8kg (59lb) for the projector.
Compact
The projector can easily pass through a 203mm (8in)
diameter opening.
Self-contained
No external power supply is needed.
Safety lock
A safety lock prevents unauthorized use of the
projector.
Easily shipped
The projector is a certified Type B(U) container and can be
shipped loaded under I.A.E.A and U.S.N.R.C transport
regulations. No overpacking or shipping barrel is
required/
Remote control
7-6m (25ft) long control hoses keep operator exposures to a
minimum. Control units with longer control hoses are available
to special order.
Directional beam
The 60deg x 30deg radiation beam is ideal for applications
where a collimator or beam limiting device would otherwise be
necessary.
Control units (ordered seperately)
The SENTINEL 865 uses a dedicated control unit. For
land-based radiography, the SENTINEL 86550 control unit is
used. It pressurises the projector's actuating mechanism by a
hand pump or an auxiliary air supply. It is equipped with a
15.2m (25ft) control hose attachment to the exposing side of
the actuator. For underwater radiography, the SENTINEL 86508
control unit is used. Control units with longer hoses are
available to special order.
Source assembly (ordered seperately)
Details of sources are available seperately.
